How does the Medki8 HEO mask work?

Standard moisturizers focus on two of the following solutions: increasing moisture levels in the skin, preventing moisture from reaching the skin's surface, or minimizing moisture evaporation. The HEO mask combines all three solutions for optimal hydration.

The abbreviation HEO stands for Humectants (ingredients soluble in water), Emollients (ingredients based on oils/lipids) and Occlusives (ingredients that repel water).

1. The blue gel contains Humectants, such as Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin and NMFs. Hyaluronic acid attracts water and can hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water. Glycerin also attracts water. NMFs including urea and amino acids bind water to themselves and retain it in the stratum corneum. They thus create a water reservoir in the upper skin layers.
2. The white cream contains Emollients and Occlusives to retain the water from the blue gel in the skin. Ceramides, squalane and linoleic acid strengthen the skin barrier and improve the skin's moisture retention capacity. Dimethicone forms an air-permeable film on the skin's surface that prevents moisture from entering the skin

Main ingredients:

• Multiweight Hyaluronic Acid – Capable of holding up to 1000 times its own weight in water, Hyaluronic Acid easily sinks into the skin where it draws moisture to it, leaving the skin both plumped and supple.
• Glycerine – A small but powerful molecule and probably the most proven humectant in skin research. Attracts water from the lower layers of the skin to itself.
• Natural moisturizing factors – Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF), which occur naturally in the stratum corneum, bind water in the skin and retain it. NMF levels in the skin decrease with age, therefore NMF components, such as urea, amino acids and sodium PCA are helpful to restore hydration in mature skin.
• blue sea kale – A water-soluble marine plant extract from Crambe Maritima. Helps stimulate natural hyaluronic acid synthesis.
• Ceramides – A selection of lipids that occur naturally in the waterproof barrier that lies atop the top layers of the skin. Ceramides are essential for water retention, regulating cells, and helping to restore the skin's natural protective shield.
• squalane – An almost skin-specific lipid, squalane helps to restore the skin's defenses and deeply hydrates the complexion.
• Dimethicone – The water-repellent properties prevent moisture from escaping the surface of the skin. The large molecules form a vapor-permeable barrier over the skin, allowing the skin to breathe and preventing moisture loss.

That's how you use Medik8 HEO Mask:

Apply after cleansing in the evening, as the last step in your skincare routine. Take an amount of about 1 to 2 cm of both the blue gel and the white cream.

Apply the blue gel of HEO Mask to the face, neck and décolleté, avoiding the eye contour. Leave on for a few minutes and then gently massage the white cream of HEO Mask into the same areas. Leave on overnight and cleanse as usual in the morning. Apply 2-3 times a week or as desired.
