Start with Crystal Retinal 1 if your skin is sensitive, dry or quickly red or if you have previously reacted strongly to retinol. Crystal Retinal 3 is usually the best starting strength for normal, combination or oily skin without previous experience with vitamin A.

Crystal Retinal 3 contains 0.03% retinaldehyde and is intended for novice vitamin A users. Crystal Retinal 6 contains 0.06% retinaldehyde and is suitable for regular users who already tolerate Crystal Retinal 3 or a comparable vitamin A product well.

Retinol is first converted into retinal in the skin and then into retinoic acid. Retinal, also called retinaldehyde, only needs to go through one conversion step. This allows retinal to be converted more efficiently, but retinal must also be built up gradually to prevent irritation.

The claim that retinal works up to eleven times faster relates to the conversion and metabolism of retinaldehyde compared to standard retinol. It does not mean that every visible result is exactly eleven times faster or that retinal is eleven times stronger for every skin.

Start with two evenings a week for the first two weeks. Then use Crystal Retinal every other evening for two weeks. If your skin remains calm and tolerates the product well, you can gradually increase your use to every evening.

Yes. A mild peptide serum can usually be applied before Crystal Retinal. Peptides support a caring skin routine and usually form a suitable combination with retinal.

This can be done carefully, but use exfoliating acids during the build-up phase, preferably on different evenings. By building acids and retinal separately, you reduce the risk of dryness, redness and irritation.

Yes. Niacinamide can be combined well with Crystal Retinal and helps support the skin barrier, sebum production and moisture balance. Use a mild formula if your skin reacts sensitively.

Do not apply the regular Crystal Retinal serum directly to the eyelids or very close to the lash line. For the sensitive skin around the eyes, prefer to use Medik8 Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye, which has been specially developed for the eye contour.
