Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is a evergreen shrub which is mainly known within Ayurveda. The herb is also known as Indian ginseng and winter cherry. The name ashwagandha is often translated as "horse scent," referring to the earthy scent of the root and its traditional association with vitality.
